TV Installation North Lakes

Plenty of the newer estate homes around North Lakes came with a room the builder labelled a "media room" — a closed-off space off the hallway, no windows to speak of, and absolutely nothing in it. It is the best room in the house for a screen and usually the last one anyone gets around to finishing. Our TV installation North Lakes work turns that empty room into a proper cinema, and we do it in three stages so nothing gets fixed to a wall before it has been thought through.

Stage 1: The screen

A dedicated media room is not a lounge room, so the usual rules do not apply. There is no fireplace to sit above and no window glare to dodge, which means the screen can go exactly where your eyes are when you are sitting down — centre of the screen roughly at seated eye level, not up near the cornice. We measure from the seating you actually intend to use, not from where the lounge happens to be sitting on install day, and we talk through viewing distance before drilling. A bigger screen usually suits these rooms than people expect, because you are sitting closer and in the dark.

Stage 2: The sound

A closed room is worth putting sound into. We mount soundbars hard against the screen so the two read as one unit rather than a shelf accessory, and we mount surround speakers on the side and rear walls at the right height and angle for the seating position, with the brackets sitting level and the speakers aimed where they should be. If you are running a subwoofer or an amplifier, we work out where it lives before the cabling goes in rather than after.

Stage 3: The finish

This is the stage that makes a media room look built rather than assembled. Power and data are run inside the wall cavity where the construction allows, speaker cable is concealed on its way around the room, and your player, console and amplifier land on a shelf or in a cabinet with the leads dressed and out of sight. The result is one clean wall — screen, sound, no visible cords.

Not every job is a full room.
