TV Installation - Common Questions

The mounting height changes depending on the room and viewing position. Generally the centre of the screen should sit slightly above eye level when you're seated -- typically 100–110 cm from the floor in most Australian homes. For a 65" TV that puts the bottom edge around 75 cm off the floor. Bedrooms usually go a little higher (120–130 cm centre) since you're watching from a reclined position. We assess the room during every job and confirm the height with you before drilling.

Yes - the vast majority of Brisbane homes have plasterboard walls and that's what we mount on every day. The key is hitting the timber studs behind the plasterboard. We use a stud finder on every job and always anchor into at least two studs. For walls where studs aren't ideally spaced we use a solid backing plate to spread the load. We do not use hollow-wall anchors alone for TV mounting.

Yes - in-wall cable concealment is one of our most popular add-ons and it's included in most of our packages. We route your power, HDMI, and any other cables through the wall cavity so nothing is visible from the front. The result is a completely clean, cord-free finish. For brick or tiled walls we use a matching cable raceway that sits flush on the surface.

Fixed (flat): Sits closest to the wall (3–4 cm gap). Best when the TV is directly in front of your seating - cleanest look, most stable.

Tilt: Lets you angle the screen down 10–15°. Useful for high-mounted TVs (above a fireplace or in a bedroom) to reduce neck strain.

Full-motion (articulating): Swings left/right and tilts. Great for corner installs or open-plan rooms where you watch from multiple positions. Adds 6–20 cm depth when extended. We supply all three types -- included in the job price.

We do above-fireplace installs regularly, but there are a couple of things to check first. Heat and soot can shorten a TV's life if the flue is directly behind the wall, so we confirm there's adequate clearance. We also always use a tilt bracket above a fireplace -- without tilt the viewing angle from a couch is uncomfortable. If the mantle is high we can assess whether a full-motion arm makes more sense. Cable concealment above a fireplace usually requires surface raceways rather than in-wall routing due to the brick or stone surround.

Yes. Brick and masonry installs are very secure - we use masonry drill bits and appropriate anchor bolts rated for the TV weight. The process takes a bit longer than timber-stud work but the result is rock solid. We carry masonry fixings on every van so there's no extra wait for parts.

A standard single-TV mount with cables managed externally takes around 45–60 minutes. Add in-wall cable concealment and allow 90 minutes. Multi-TV jobs or complex installs (corner walls, above-fireplace with a new GPO, commercial fit-outs) are quoted individually. We'll give you an honest time estimate when you book.

We supply the bracket - it's included in every installation price. We carry fixed, tilt, and full-motion mounts for screens from 32" up to 100". If you've already purchased a specific bracket you'd like us to use, that's fine too and we'll discount the supply component. Just let us know when booking.

Our installs start at $159 for a BYO-bracket mount on a standard plasterboard wall. Most residential jobs land between $159 and $429 depending on screen size, bracket type, and whether in-wall cable concealment is included. Yes - soundbar wall mounting, HDMI cable routing, Foxtel/antenna connections, and general AV setup can all be added to your booking. If you want everything set up and ready to watch in one visit, just mention it when you book and we'll price it up together.
