TV Installation Capalaba
Capalaba is brick country. Drive through the older bayside Redlands streets and you'll see lowset after lowset built from solid brick and besser block, with rendered masonry on the newer builds closer to Capalaba Central. That's exactly why we hear the same worries here every week: brick is too hard, too crumbly, too risky to hang a television on. It isn't. Brick and masonry are the strongest walls we work with, and getting a screen onto one properly is routine work for us. Below are the three myths we hear most on TV installation Capalaba jobs, and what actually happens on the day.
Myth: You can't mount a TV on a brick wall
Reality: You absolutely can, and a well-anchored brick wall will hold a large screen far more securely than plasterboard ever will. The catch is that brick is unforgiving of guesswork. It needs a hammer drill, the correct bit size, dust cleared from the hole and a masonry anchor rated for the load — not a plug from the bottom of the toolbox. Once that's done, the mount isn't going anywhere.
Myth: Drilling into brick will crack or ruin the wall
Reality: Damage comes from drilling in the wrong place, not from drilling at all. We fix into the solid body of the brick rather than the mortar joints wherever the bracket pattern allows, because mortar is softer and far more likely to blow out. We also work around what's behind the wall, checking for cabling and pipework before a single hole goes in. Done that way, the only mark left is hidden behind the TV.
Myth: Cables can never be hidden on a masonry wall
Reality: You can't always chase a cavity the way you would in a stud wall, but there's almost always a tidy answer. Depending on the room that might be a discreet conduit finished to match the wall, a run through the adjoining cavity or roof space, or a power point relocated behind the screen by a licensed electrician. We'll tell you honestly what's achievable on your wall before we start, rather than promising an invisible finish and improvising later.
