Can you drill into concrete apartment walls?

Yes — that is an ordinary day for us. Most CBD towers are poured concrete or besser block rather than timber-framed plasterboard, which works in your favour: a properly anchored bracket in solid masonry is stronger than one fixed to studs. It just needs the right gear, meaning a rotary hammer, masonry bits and anchors rated well above the weight of your screen. We test the wall before anything spins, because some are solid, some are a stud wall built against concrete, and plenty are a mix. Dust is vacuumed at the bit so your carpet stays clean.

Do I need body-corporate approval?

Sometimes, and it depends entirely on your building. Requirements vary between schemes and we cannot tell you what yours says, so check your by-laws, your community management statement or your building manager before the day. As a general pattern, many schemes treat an internal, non-structural wall inside your own lot as your business, while anything involving common property, a shared riser or the building exterior is far more likely to need written approval first. Some buildings also set drilling hours or want the lift booked. Tell us what yours expects and we will work in with it.

I'm renting — can I still mount my TV?

Usually you can, but get your landlord or agent to agree in writing first. Tenancy agreements differ, and most treat wall mounting as a minor alteration needing consent, often on the condition that the wall is made good when you move out. That last part is worth raising early — brackets come off easily and holes can be patched. If drilling is off the table altogether, say so and we will give you an honest answer about what else will work in your unit.

What about apartments with pre-wired TV points?

Newer apartments often have an antenna point, a data point and a power outlet already sitting at mount height, which makes for a genuinely tidy result — no cable in sight. Older buildings tend to put the antenna point down at skirting level, so we either run cabling inside the wall where the construction allows it, or use a slim conduit that can be painted to match. Solid concrete cannot be chased out on the day, so there we agree the neatest visible route with you before drilling.
